STOP DROPOUT Prevention against school dropout![]() Stop Dropout is one of the project that bring innovative educational methods proven abroad to the Czech Republic. It includes tools for educational and counselling work with young adults who are prone to drop out of school. The P-P-S project (www.p-p-s.org) will enable specialists from the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Slovenia to use supporting guidance and counselling materials. The target group of the project includes education counsellors, resources teachers, school psychologists, as well as other specialists working with the target group of young adults (between 14 and 16 years of age). The project offers a system of tools which can a) help identify learners who are prone to drop out of school for various reasons, b) help resolve the situation based on individual, holistic dialogue between the counsellor and the learner, and c) deal with different situations based on interdisciplinary approach by including the members of all the different stakeholder institutions. The supporting counselling system consists of three parts:
The system takes into account individual needs of each learner and provides all necessary support. It is thus not intended for performance-based selection, but rather for the inclusion of learners at risk. The objective of the Stop DropOut project is to take the products of the original P-P-S project and transfer and apply them, within the framework of current possibilities, to some of the guidance and counselling structures already in place in the Czech Republic. Seminar in holistic guidance and counselling dialogueBetween
24 June and 26 June 2001, L4L organized a weekend seminar focused on
counselling dialogues for career counsellors working at Employment
Offices. This course was created based on the Stop DropOut
methodology adopted from Scandinavia and Iceland. The objective of
this course is to prepare school and career counsellors at Employment
Offices for the work with young adults who are, for various reasons,
at risk to drop out of school or have already dropped out. Under the
dynamic leadership of the therapist and coach PhDr. Juraj Barbarič,
the participants in this course experienced a dynamic weekend full of
new information and entirely new views of the theory and practice of
work of experts in helping professions. Following the tremendous
interest in this seminar, the second sequel will take place in
September 2011 and L4L has been working on opening other groups for
participants who could not enrol for the June run.
The short video on the left shows a brief overview of the participants' feedback immediately after the completion of the three seminar days. For more information on coming courses, please contact us at [email protected] |
